A tourism apprenticeship in the trade of Guest Services Representative is available to Front Desk Agents and Reservation Sales Agents
 
A Guest Services Representative is an individual who provides service to guests at the main door and in the lobby of an accommodation property.  Duties include assisting guests’ arrival and departure, handling and storing luggage, valet parking, and assisting other departments, such as housekeeping, front desk, security, and food and beverage. 
 
A tourism apprenticeship as a Guest Services Representative will lead to a Journeyperson certificate.  To become a Guest Services Representative Journeyperson you must:

You must currently be working as a Front Desk Agent or Reservation Sales Agent to register as a tourism apprentice and pursue Journeyperson certification as a Guest Services Representative Journeyperson.  Achieving this status usually takes two to three years.

Quick Facts
Apprenticeship is not entirely new to the tourism trades in Saskatchewan.  The Cook trade has been around for over 100 years, but Guest Services Representative and  Food  and Beverage Person were not developed by tourism  sector operators until the mid-1990s.
