Two apprenticeship grants are now available to apprentices who are registered for or have completed an apprenticeship program in a Red Seal designated trade. 'Cook' is the only occupation in Saskatchewan that falls into this category. To learn more about the Cook Red Seal Standard, click here.
All registered apprentices who complete their apprenticeship training as a Cook and obtain journeyperson certification are eligible to receive a maximum of $4,000 through the Apprenticeship Incentive Grant and the Apprenticeship Completion Grant.
Apprenticeship Incentive Grant
The Apprenticeship Incentive Grant is available to registered apprentices once they successfully complete their first or second year/level (or equivalent) of an apprenticeship program as a Cook. This is a taxable cash grant of $1,000 per year up to a maximum of $2,000 per person. For information on the deadline to apply, click here
Apprenticeship Completion Grant
The Apprenticeship Completion Grant is available to apprentices who complete their training, become certified journeypersons in a designated Red Seal trade and who obtain either the Red Seal endorsement or a provincial or territorial Certificate of Qualification. This is a taxable cash grant of $2,000. It is designed to encourage apprentices registered in a designated Red Seal trade to complete their apprenticeship program and receive certification.
