Tourism Apprenticeships

If you want to improve your skills and continue working, a tourism apprenticeship may be what you're looking for.

Tourism apprenticeships are offered through STEC in partnership with the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission.  We offer apprenticeships in two trades:

Trade certification provides industry professionals interested in long-term, rewarding careers the opportunity to have their skills, knowledge, and attitude measured and recognized.  In Saskatchewan, tourism trades do not require apprentices to leave the workplace for extended formal classroom trainingMost training takes place on-the-job and allows you to learn from a trained expert in your field.

STEC attended the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum (CAF) on March 23, 2010 in Saskatoon.  The forum is the only inclusive national body that brings together all players in apprenticeship training.  The main topic of the event was the National Apprenticeship Survey (NAS) 2007.

Quick Facts
Apprentices generate net benefits for employers by the end of the second year of their apprenticeship or earlier.  On average, for each $1.00 invested in an apprentice, a benefit of $1.47 accrues to the employer.  Non-monetary benefits include higher retention of employees and the assurance of skilled labour.
