In 2009,   STEC received funding from the  Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC)  to provide 24 frontline professionals employed by the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) with the opportunity to complete Journeyperson certification and be recognized by the SATCC as a Food and Beverage Person.  The project spans nine months, from September 2009 to May 2010.

In 2008, STEC received support to implement the Transforming the Tourism Workforce pilot project.  It is one of 41 across Canada being funded by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC).  The project spans two years, from September 1, 2008 to August 31, 2010.

STEC is partnering with the Canadian International Training & Education Corporation (CITREC) to assist foreign nationals across the world access tourism and hospitality courses and training in their home countries.

Industry Professionals Say
"
We are thrilled that Canada's tourism training is   being recognized internationally.  It is a testament to the many industry professionals who are integral to the development of the occupational standards  that are so widely used across Canada.  To have these standards become available overseas validates the hard work and commitment of all involved. "
