 WHMIS

Cleaning products, solvents, paints, glues, and toners – did you know these materials are considered hazardous?  Many people working in the tourism sector come into contact with hazardous materials every day as Campground Operators, Housekeeping Room Attendants, and Hunting Guides.

In Canada, business owners are required by law to provide instruction to anyone working in close proximity with hazardous products.  The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is a national, standardized classification system that provides information on the control, safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in the workplace.

Cost of one WHMIS online training is $24.95/person + GST.

Quick Facts
WHMIS is one of the tools the government developed in 1998 to put the Hazardous Products Act into  practice in workplaces across Canada.  Employees are required to  participate in the WHMIS training offered by employers, and to apply WHMIS procedures and practices within the workplace.

Industry Professionals Say
"
As a training coordinator for the Temple Gardens Mineral Spa Resort, I have found that having WHMIS online is a time-saving tool.  Having staff attend a three-hour seminar can cause staffing issues, as running a full resort can be challenging.  Having this training online gives our company the flexibility to have staff  take WHMIS when time permits.  It is a convenient way to deliver this important information to our team. "
