Become a Facilitator
STEC is looking for facilitators to deliver workshops across the province to tourism operators, supervisors, managers, and employees.
Workshops include:
Facilitators must have*:
- experience working in the tourism sector.
- an understanding of National Occupational Standards and emerit Professional Certification.
- an understanding of adult learning principles.
- demonstrated facilitation skills.
- a minimum of five years business experience.
*Training in Life Skills is also an asset.
Your duties as a facilitator are:
- to be available to deliver training with sufficient notice.
- to be in touch with a contact person at STEC at least 24 hours prior to classroom delivery to confirm last minute details.
- to have contact with the STEC office daily during program delivery.
- to arrive at the workshop location at least 30 minutes prior to presentation for set up.
- to welcome participants at the door as they arrive.
- to begin the workshop on time.
- to ensure professional delivery by dressing appropriately, preparing the material, and familiarizing yourself with the training piece.
- to have paperwork (registration sheet, expense claim, and evaluations) completed and submitted as soon as possible after the workshop.

I am an STEC workshop facilitator who has enjoyed both the challenges and rewards that being a workshop leader have presented. As a former educator, the challenges of learning and delivering new information to others has enhanced my personal development and increased my knowledge base. My involvement with STEC has given me the opportunity and pleasure of once again teaching and meeting many interesting people from all corners of the world, and making new friendships at the same time.
