In Saskatchewan, we have experienced significant success in training a professional tourism workforce. Our training programs create long-term, rewarding career opportunities to individuals from traditional and non-traditional backgrounds (including Aboriginal peoples, social assistance recipients, at-risk youth, and individuals with disAbilities).
Over 3,300 people from 91 communities participated in training provided by STEC in 2007-2008.
Training must be recognized as an investment, not simply an expense. [...] Without the capacity to evaluate the real returns from their training investments, firms likely undervalue these returns against other sorts of investments where accounting information is more complete.
