Information Counsellor
 
A Tourism Visitor Information Counsellor provides travel information to visitors and those considering visiting the area.  They:
 
  • enhance travel experiences by helping visitors make informed decisions about their purchases.
  • provide information on travel, accommodation, and hospitality options.
  • promote special events and other attractions that may be of interest to the traveler.
 
With emerit Tourism Visitor Information Counsellor training, you'll broaden your skill set and self-confidence by:
 
  • learning how to handle monetary transactions.
  • developing merchandising and selling skills.
  • becoming an expert in service excellence. 
 
To receive Professional Certification as a Tourism Visitor Information Counsellor, you must successfully complete an occupational knowledge exam, performance evaluation, and work experience.
 
Occupational Knowledge Exam: This 100-question multiple choice exam is based on the National Occupational Standard for Tourism Visitor Information Counsellors.
 
Performance Evaluation: The performance evaluation consists of two parts: 1) an on-the-job observation by a qualified evaluator and 2) a structured interview by phone. 
 
Work Experience: You must complete 800* qualified hours as a Tourism Visitor Information Counsellor.
