A Front Desk Agent provides the necessary services to ensure that guests have a positive and enjoyable experience, not only in the property but in the local region as well.  Front Desk Agents:
 
  • sell rooms.
  • take, modify, and cancel reservations.
  • process guest arrivals and departures.
  • manage financial transactions.
  • use technology.
  • communicate well.
  • oversee areas of guest security and safety.
  • in some properties, perform the combined jobs of Guest Services Attendant, Switchboard Operator, Night Auditor, and Concierge.

To receive Professional Certification as a Front Desk Agent, you must successfully complete an occupational knowledge exam, performance evaluation, and work experience.
 
Occupational Knowledge Exam: This 100-question multiple choice exam is based on the National Occupational Standard for Front Desk Agents.
 
Performance Evaluation: The performance evaluation is conducted by a qualified evaluator who will observe you on-the-job.
 
Work Experience: You must complete 1,000 qualified hours as a Front Desk Agent prior to the performance evaluation.
