Quick Facts
Tea was discovered in ancient China over 5,000 years ago.  According to legend, the Emperor Shen Nong insisted that all water be boiled before drinking for hygienic reasons.  One summer day, the Emperor’s servants were boiling water outside.  Dried leaves from a nearby bush fell into the boiling water and turned brown.  The Emperor wondered what the liquid would taste like and took a sip.  Tea was created.
