 Event Coordinator
 
An Event Coordinator assists an Event Manager by:
 
  • coordinating and executing a detailed plan from established objectives and strategies.
  • implementing policies and procedures.
  • training, motivating, and leading staff and volunteers.
  • monitoring and evaluating the event and making the necessary recommendations.
 
emerit Event Coordinator training will help you develop a broad range of multidisciplinary skills from human resources to budget management. 
 
To receive Professional Certification as an Event Coordinator, you must successfully complete an occupational knowledge exam, performance evaluation, and work experience.
 
Occupational Knowledge Exam: This 100-question multiple choice exam is based on the National Occupational Standard for Event Coordinators.
 
Performance Evaluation: The performance evaluation consists of a supervised written case study and an interview by a qualified evaluator. 
 
Work Experience: You must complete 1,500 qualified hours of experience as an Event Coordinator within a three-year period prior to the performance evaluation.

Quick Facts
The first national occupational standard for Event Coordinator was developed by STEC in 1990.  Six years later, the standard was validated nationally under the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council (CTHRC).  The most recent update to the standard came in 2004 when the CTHRC launched the emerit brand.
