 Employer of Choice

A business where employee actions directly align with business goals, employees feel appreciated and valued for their work and are acknowledged and rewarded for their contributions.

STEC's Employer of Choice program is designed to assist tourism businesses across the province in attracting and retaining staff by providing employers with the tools and resources to engage in best practices, increase staff training, improve organizational human resources practices, and be recognized as a leader in the tourism sector.

All employers who engage in the program will:

  • complete a comprehensive questionnaire that covers the seven functional areas of human resources (staffing; learning, training and development; compensation; employee and labour relations; professional practice; organizational effectiveness; and occupational health and safety).
  • encourage a minimum of 25% frontline and 25% managerial staff to participate in an employee opinion survey.
  • receive a detailed report outlining their organization's strength and potential.

The 2011 Employer of Choice program will be available to all tourism businesses in Saskatchewan from May 1 to November 30, 2010.

Industry Professionals Say
"
Not only is the Employer of Choice program beneficial to individual employers, it is also beneficial to Saskatchewan's economy as a whole.  The program's intent is to raise the bar on human resource management within the tourism sector, making these employers globally attractive.  Ideally, we hope to see potential employees  vying to work for these Employers of Choice in our industry, and, eventually, Saskatchewan being  recognized as the top place in Canada to work in tourism. "
