In the province of Saskatchewan, STEC is the local representative of emerit, Canada’s seal of excellence in tourism human resource products and services. emerit is a combination of National Occupational Standards and Professional Certification, online and paper-based training materials, business tools, and career resources designed to assist employers and employees, students, and job seekers in achieving the knowledge, skills, and attitude needed for a profession in the tourism sector.
It takes approximately six months to two years to become emerit certified. Certification programs take into account past experience and knowledge.
