Solutions for Educators
STEC is one of many organizations committed to the education and training of tourism professionals. As part of our mandate, we are committed to bringing both provincial and national organizations together in the education and training of students, job seekers, employees, and employers.
Our most recent initiative is an ongoing collaboration with the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council (CTHRC) to assist educators in post-secondary institutions, private schools, and training organizations in benchmarking, developing, and revising tourism and hospitality courses and curriculum.
Learning Outcomes and Elements of Performance are based on the CTHRC's National Occupational Standards and reflect the skills, knowledge, and attitude necessary for a profession in the tourism sector. All standards are developed by tourism professionals across Canada in collaboration with Tourism Human Resource Organizations.
Learning Outcomes are available in both English and French for four tourism professions:
The development of Learning Outcomes for the occupations of Line Cook, Small Business Owner/Operator, and Sales Manager are currently underway.
