Kristy McLeod

Kristy began her career in tourism as a retail sales associate.  Recognizing her need to cross-train, she participated in a Saskatoon Ready to Work - Tourism Careers program in 2007.  At that point, she worked at Flying J and Dakota Dunes Casino as a Food and Beverage Server.  In 2008, she relocated to Prince Albert to pursue an opportunity with Athabasca Catering.  She has worked her way up from general help to third cook.  In July, Kristy begins training as a second cook.  Kristy feels that the program helped her to identify and utilize her personal strengths.  She says that she found the facilitators and job coaches to be supportive and encouraging as she started her career.

Industry Professionals Say
"
It was a great program,  very informative.  It gave me the training I needed to at least get my foot in the door.  After that it was up to me to prove myself.  It has given me more confidence in my ability to learn new tasks, get the job done, and make sure I do it right the first time. "
