Unity
Location: The town of Unity is located in west central Saskatchewan. Prior to 1919, it was incorporated as a village, founded by Wisconsin settlers from Unity, Wisconsin. Unity is well-known for being a town of firsts. Canada’s first commercial potash deposit and mine was developed in Unity, as was Saskatchewan’s first rural radio broadcast station. The first natural gas transmission station and user system was also developed in Unity. Its heritage museum boasts of many historical buildings, documents, antiques, working machinery, and vehicles.
