Lac La Ronge First Nation
Location: Lac La Ronge First Nation is the largest community in northern Saskatchewan. It is situated on the southwest shore of Lac La Ronge, a major tributary to the Churchill River. Similar to many northern communities, Lac La Ronge First Nation has a rich history that encompasses the Woodland Cree and legendary traders and explorers like McKenzie and Pond. This area has acted as a crossroad for travellers, a trading outpost, a missionary settlement, a fishing centre (a fly-in fishing camp is located nearby), and a destination for tourists looking for an idyllic northern experience.
