Location: La Loche is northern Saskatchewan’s second largest community.  It is located near the Clearwater and Garson Rivers and Lake La Loche, a source to the Churchill River.   La Loche is the home of many Native Canadians, including the Dene peoples, who turned the land into a hunting and fishing settlement hundreds of years before the first explorers and traders visited the region in the 1700s.  Once on the fur trade route, the growing community was a crossing point to the arctic.
