Cumberland House Cree Nation
Location: Cumberland House Cree Nation is located on Pine Island, along the Saskatchewan River. Situated on the southern edge of the Canadian Shield, it is on the route to Hudson Bay, Lake Winnipeg, Nelson River, and the Rocky Mountains. Cumberland House Cree Nation was the first western inland post that was built by Hudson’s Bay Company and is the oldest continuously occupied site in the province. The community derives most of its economy from trapping, farming, fishing, sawmilling, hunting, and guiding.
