Canadian Academy of
Travel and Tourism
CATT is part of a national effort to:
- support young people interested in furthering their education and training in travel and tourism.
- support effective transitions from school to work in the tourism sector.
The academy gives high school students the opportunity to build a foundation for a career in tourism, while allowing them to stay in school and acquire the necessary skills for post-secondary education, life-long learning, and a future career in tourism.
Canadian high schools can be involved in the CATT program at three different levels:
Level I – affiliate local
Level II – affiliate provincial
Gold – CATT high school graduate
CATT program learning involves students in grades 10, 11, and 12 and can be incorporated into current Tourism Hospitality Entrepreneurship (THE) 30 classes in Saskatchewan. Students follow their school’s regular curriculum with a specialization in travel and tourism.
Successful students receive a Travel & Tourism Certificate (Level I, Level II or Gold) after completing the program requirements, which involve work placements and internships in the tourism sector. Students are also provided with links to similar programs at the national and international level.
Graduates of the program demonstrate learning outcomes found in:
