History
The
Saskatchewan Tourism Education Council was formed by the tourism sector in 1990 in response to a burgeoning tourism economy in the province. In 1996, we merged with the Saskatchewan Tourism Authority and the Tourism Industry Association of Saskatchewan (TISASK) to form
Tourism Saskatchewan.
At the time of the merge, our organization was incorporated as a non-profit, non-government division of Tourism Saskatchewan with a mandate to develop a professional tourism workforce by promoting, coordinating, and evaluating industry-managed
standards and certification,
career awareness, and
training. Ever since, the number of opportunities for us to fulfill our mandate has grown exponentially with the province's tourism sector.
Likewise
Tourism Saskatchewan, which has become the most comprehensive industry-government partnership in Canada and the first of its kind in Canada's tourism sector, continues to grow providing us with greater capacity to work with the tourism sector to develop competent, skilled workers.
